And The Award Goes To....

Our Marvelous Clan!!!  (Insert thunderous applause here.)

Thank you!  Thank you!  Thank you for your applause, you are too kind.  Please take your seats.

First of all, I am truly honored of this prestigious award being bestowed upon me.  I cannot thank you enough Thrifty Crafty Girl , you are a very special person. You were the first to make my day, that very memorable day when you became the very first to follow my little blog.  You took the time and helped me out with my inadequate blogger skills and took the time to walk me through the steps.  For that I am forever thankful.

Secondly, I'd like to thank my hard working husband for allowing me to be a stay at home mom and enjoy this time with our kids before our little ones start their school years.  This year has been the best ever.

I would also like to thank....**Insert speech cutoff music and handsome looking model escorting me off the stage.**

Here are the RULES for the Versatile Blogger Award-
1. Add the award to your blog.
2. Thank the blogger who gave it to you.  (Done above)
3. Mention seven random things about yourself.  (See below)
4. List the rules. (Done here)
5. Award to 15 bloggers.
6. Inform each of those 15 by leaving a comment on their blog.

Here are my awesome seven random facts about myself.

1) I am a shopaholic.  If I could, I'd be out there shopping EVERY. SINGLE. DAY.  No joke.  I think I may have a problem...total joke.  I have learned to control myself....somewhat.

2) I don't like paying full price for anything, unless its groceries and necessities...I suck at using coupons.  (Doesn't make sense, I know.)  I shop thrift stores, clearance racks, yard sales and Craigslist for everything else.

3)  I LOVE SHOES!!  I currently have approximately 63 pairs (see, total shopaholic...but I never paid full price.  ha-ha!).  I am down from 88 pairs, I had to purge when we moved last year.  I will share that with you some day.

Momo, 65 pairs of shoe

 4)  I am bilingual.  Sí, hablo español!  I speak Spanish fluently.  My husband speaks three languages...that smarty pants.

5)  I love chocolate.  We always have chocolate in our home.  If I crave it and don't have a candy bar handy, I will melt milk chocolate morsels and drizzle it on almonds or any fruit we have in the kitchen just to get my fix.  We often make chocolate covered strawberries in our home.  I can whip those babies up in less than 10 minutes.

6)  I used to not like football, my husband loved it, so I learned about it so we could have something else in common and now I LOVE it!  I even have my own Fantasy Football Team now.  I've come a looong way.

7)  I am a HUGE Green Bay Packers fan (don't judge me).  I am that crazy fan decked out in team gear with green extensions in her hair, face painted and yelling at the top of her lungs.  We watch EVERY game and go to as many games as we can.  (This is not me but I'm not guaranteeing that I will not evolve into that.)

8)  I am not blogging as often as I'd like.  My two little ones start school in the fall and I want to enjoy as much time with them as I can.  It's a privilege to be able to stay at home with them.  One is going into Pre-K and the other is going into Kindergarten.  I will be having a breakdown when that time comes.

Yes, I know I was only supposed to have 7 but I couldn't resist sharing my awesome self with you.  ha ha!

Now the hard part.....and The Winners of the Versatile Blogger Award are:

1)  Sherry at Pondered Primed Perfected {P3}  Sherry and her husband Scott make a great DIY team!

2) Tricia at Making It Feel Like Home  Tricia has been working on making her house a home while raising her 3 cute little ones.

3)  Claire at Bless My Nest You have got to check out the Spring wreath that she made.  I love it!

4)  Shirley at Housepitality Designs  Shirley was also one of those extremely nice bloggers who took the time to walk this newbie through essential blogger steps.  I told my husband that I hope to one day have a home like hers.

5) Cindy at Beaux R'eves She is so talented!  I have so much to learn from her.

I know it said to 15 blogs (I apologize to you other 10 bloggers) but it's the day before my birthday and I have to clean my house before any unexpected guests drop by.

I've got clean laundry on my kitchen table to fold, floors to clean and I need to make our house guest-worthy.  Although, I'm really craving a nap right now.

Enjoying Spring

How did you enjoy your first week of Spring?  My husband and I took our marvelous clan to Lake Geneva, Wisconsin to enjoy the warm Spring weather.

Lake Geneva is located in Southeastern Wisconsin, approximately ten miles north of the Illinois state line.

We had a gorgeous few days...

We enjoyed a walk on Main Street, a coffee break...

A walk along the water...

and a walk in the Park.

We had a great time!  Hope you we able to enjoy this first week of Spring!

Our Living Room

Hi there!  How ya doin?  Thought I'd share some pics of our living room before I start changing stuff around.  I am itching for some change.

So Welcome to my living room!

I apologize for the lighting, as I mentioned here, this room is really dark.  As I was taking pictures the rain clouds rolled in and ruined this little photo shoot.

No your eyes are not playing tricks on you, the blue-green wall is slanted down towards the window.

I'm going to change up the mantle soon.

These horses were bought at Home Goods back when my husband and I got our first apartment many years ago.  I had to have them....and they're still my favs!

This chair was a left over from when my sister moved back home to Phoenix.  I didn't like the crazy fabric so I covered it with some fabric.  (Recovering this chair is on my to do list, I've been too scared to tackle it.  Hope to do it this summer.)

I found this little bird on clearance for $2.50 at the end of the Spring season last year.  I regret not picking up two of them.

Hope you enjoyed your visit!  I certainly enjoyed you coming by!  Come again soon!

Birthday Month Funk

Hi!  Didn't mean to go M.I.A. (missing in action) but I'm in one of those "Birthday Month Funks" (try saying that 4 times, fast...ha ha).

(Would love to know how many of you actually did try saying that 4 times.  Ha ha ha...)

The "Birthday Month Funk" is that time when your birthday is creeping up and you start doing that nasty reflecting and questioning everything you shoulda, coulda, woulda done in the past 30 plus years.

Then you start to reflect on all the things you should, could, would do with the rest of your years....

Go back to college.
Move from the Midwest to the West

Spend time with family (need to move to the West for this).

But then you realize there are things that are out of your control that limit you from accomplishing them at this moment in your life.

All of that tends to put you in a funk.

A funk that I am so ready to get out of.

Nobody can go back
and start a new
beginning, but anyone
can start today and
make a new ending.
                                          - Maria Robinson

I am trying to keep myself busy so that my mind doesn't wander into that negative "what if" place.  I've been sewing (will post later on that), I've been working on organizing the basement, and I'm getting out of the house to visit friends.

I'm trying really hard to focus on the things that I can change.  It's not always easy.

This is resonating with me more than ever....

I have to remember there is a plan...

So it's time to kick this funk to the curb and have faith that He will provide me with what I need when I am ready, willing and able.  This isn't always easy but it sure beats being in a grouchy birthday month funk.

I'm off to enjoy this unexpected 63 degree weather we're having today.  I hope to do some spray painting and taking my kids for a bike ride to the park.

I hope you're enjoying your Sunday as well.
